Title

Title I Schools receive extra funding from the federal government.  These funds can be used to: 

• identify students having academic difficulties and provide assistance to those students
• purchase additional staff, programs, materials, and/or supplies
• conduct parent and family engagement meetings, events, trainings, and activities.

Families of Title I students have the right to:

• be provided with information about their child's achievement levels
• request and receive information about the qualifications of their child's teachers
• participate in meetings regarding decision-making for your child's education

Title funds can be used for:

• smaller class sizes
• additional teachers and paraprofessionals
• additional training for school staff
• extra time for instruction (before/after school tutoring)
• parent and family engagement activities
• supplemental teaching materials, programs, and equipment

Southside's Title I funds are used to employ a reading interventionist and math interventionist, a full-time assistant, and 2 part-time assistants.  Also, supplemental instructional programs, such as Reflex Math, Brainpop, and Flocabulary are purchased.
